Thanks for Chopping it up with us today. Tell the people who you are and what you do.
My name is Nicholas Grier , some may call me Nick . Im a fashion creative and owner of BlackStar the brand.
What got you started in this and how long have you been doing it?
Art… Art itself influenced me to want to show my creativity in different concepts and ways to showcase my style and pov. BlackStar the Brand started December 2022 being a Senior with a Art major in college .
What's your biggest flex? What makes you different from others in the same profession?
I believe what makes me different than other individuals is my drive and creativity , i have a hunger in me that’s focused on growing and learning . While also trying to think of new ideas/concepts but I figured everything is all perspectives so combine the two, allow your art to tell a story, it’s okay if your story isn’t understood at first but stick to your visions and I believe i am a fighter of not giving up on my visions and showing my vision in multiple concepts that expands the audience level.
What was your biggest diversion this far and how do you deal with adversity when you come across it?
My biggest diversion was really being overwhelmed with my schedule, while living in Atlanta I was working multiple jobs everyday which could put a hold on me mentally. But I’ve learned how to balance things and learned new ways to plan accordingly. I also think that during that time period of being overwhelmed and stressed was also a moment of realizing I’m growing and doing the best I can so I was very present and appreciative and I am a firm believer of finding positivity of any situation even if it’s looked at as a negative
Put us on game. What's something most people don't know about you or what you do?
I enjoy Crocheting and want to get more involved with Crocheting and try new concepts in my garments
What's in the vault? What can we look forward to seeing from you in the near future?
Recently dropped my “Love is War” collection in Lower East Side, Manhattan , creating more clothing, concepts and eventually my own store
Share the wealth and show some love. Who are some people or places that helped you along the way that you want to give a shout out to?
I can’t thank the Village Skatepark Atl enough for allowing me to be apart of the team and help create a community for creatives like myself and peers where we can sew, screen-print, an jus create any ideas we may have in a skatepark, as a collective and that was helping me grow and improve my craft with just learning the fundamentals of sewing and creating a shop where you could shop the products I made for the skatepsrk and I’m forever grateful for all of my peers I’ve met through there.
We look forward to see what is coming and appreciate you taking the time to chop it up with us. Keep being an inspiration and keep on keeping on.
